The Hidden Scars of Domestic Violence
By Pamela Jordan Lee
Owner, Sir Max
The events are long gone, but the internal scars are still there, broken images, lost love, low self esteem, shame guilt, fear, isolation, being alone, and nowhere to go.
No matter how long ago this took place, when I meet with women today I can still feel there pain and mine too. We may have traveled different roads at different times, but the scars are the same. Behind the scars is a woman--a woman who yearns to be loved who wants to give love, a woman with spirit and beauty inside and out. Instead of being loved or what she thought love was, she is beaten down to the very core of her soul.
At this point is when we as woman have to reach deep down within to release the bondage that has engulfed our souls. The battles are long and hard and there are no promises of what tomorrow will bring. But with the gift of freedom you will find a woman who is now like a rose. Once all the thorns are removed, the dead leaves are removed and sometimes even the stems need to be cut, there is a woman of beauty whose petals open slowly, making sure she captures all the sunlight, all the rain and enjoys the gentle butterflies that stop by to admire her beauty.
Now with her new spirit she is a woman willing to be loved and to give love again.
A woman with spirit is a woman with power.
